ViVaNeighbors brings together the power of modern technology and the oldest human instinct — looking out for each other. A single button press connects a vulnerable person with consenting neighbors who are already willing, already close, and already ready to help.
"We took the oldest human instinct — helping your neighbor — and gave it a button."
ViVaNeighbors works because it combines two things that are each powerful alone — and extraordinary together.
ViVaNeighbors has two distinct roles — and they work together seamlessly. The subscriber gets the safety net. The neighbor provides the humanity.
The person who needs a safety net. They subscribe to ViVaNeighbors, register their home address, and set up their network of consented neighbors. When they need help, they press the button.
The neighbor does not need to download anything or take any action upfront. They simply receive a consent SMS, agree to help, and wait. When their neighbor needs them, they get a message and choose to respond.
Important: No neighbor can be added as a responder without the subscriber first proposing them. Once proposed, a confirmation SMS is sent directly to the neighbor — they must actively consent before they are added to the network. Consent can be withdrawn by the neighbor at any time.
Here is exactly what happens — from the moment you set up your account to the moment a neighbor arrives at your side.
You sign up to ViVaNeighbors and register your home address. This is the address that will be shared with responding neighbors when you press the SOS button — no live GPS is used. Your registered address is your fixed location for all alerts.
This is a home-first device. You are expected to be within WiFi or Bluetooth range of your registered device when using it.
You identify neighbors you trust — people within 100 meters of your home, or within your postcode in the UK. You propose them through the ViVaNeighbors system. You can propose as many neighbors as you like, and update your list at any time.
You are always in control of who is in your network. You can add or remove consented neighbors at any time from your account.
The moment you propose a neighbor, the ViVaNeighbors system — not you — sends them a consent SMS. This message explains what ViVaNeighbors is, what they are being asked to do, and asks them to confirm they are willing to help.
Hello — your neighbor has registered with ViVaNeighbors, a community safety service. They have proposed you as someone who may be willing to help in an emergency.
If you agree to be a voluntary responder, you will receive a simple SMS if they ever need support. You are never obligated to respond.
Do you consent to being a ViVaNeighbors responder?
Only neighbors who actively reply YES are added to your responder network. Declining has no consequence and is completely private.
Once your neighbors have consented, your personal safety network is live. You can see exactly how many consented neighbors you have. Your network is ready and waiting — quietly in the background — until the day you need it.
Consented neighbors are identified at the point of initial setup. This means when an SOS is triggered, the system already knows exactly who to contact — instantly.
When you feel unsafe, unwell, anxious, or in any kind of distress — you press the ViVaNeighbors button. That single press immediately triggers an alert to all your consented neighbors. Alerts can be sent in sequence — one at a time until someone responds — or in parallel to all neighbors simultaneously. You choose your preference during setup.
Your registered home address is passed with the alert — not a live GPS location. This keeps things simple, private, and reliable even in a moment of distress.
Each consented neighbor receives a clear, fixed SMS message. There is no ambiguity. They know exactly who needs help and where to go. They simply reply YES or NO.
🚨 NEIGHBOR NEEDS SUPPORT
Mrs. Dorothy at 14 Elm Street needs help right now.
Can you please go to her? She is close by. Reply with YES if you can come, or NO if you cannot.
The message is fixed and standard — name and house number only. No sensitive medical or personal information is ever shared in the alert.
A neighbor replies YES. The system immediately notifies you that help is on the way. Because your consented neighbors are within 100 meters or the same postcode, no ETA is given — they are simply close by and coming. That knowledge alone is powerful.
If the first neighbor cannot come, the alert moves to the next consented neighbor automatically — until someone responds.
Your neighbor arrives. They don't need to be a doctor, a counsellor, or a hero. They are there to do whatever they safely and legally can — sit with you, hold your hand, call emergency services on your behalf, fetch a glass of water, or simply ensure you are not alone while you wait for professional help.
This is the Good Samaritan in the 21st century. Not a bystander — a neighbor who chose to show up.
ViVaNeighbors provides all consented neighbors with simple, clear guidance on what they can do safely and what to leave to professionals.
You don't need any special skills to be a ViVaNeighbors responder. You just need to be willing to show up. Here is what that looks like.
ViVaNeighbors is designed primarily as a home device. It works over WiFi or Bluetooth — so the subscriber is expected to be within range of their registered device when using it.
Because the system uses your registered home address rather than live GPS, it is faster, more reliable, and far simpler to use in a moment of distress — when the last thing you need is technology getting in the way.
All neighbor alerts are sent by SMS — so neighbors need no app, no smartphone data, and no technical knowledge. A simple reply of YES or NO is all it takes.
